Cranberries in the Classroom (or On Tour!)

If you work in the cranberry industry or you're just a cran-fan like we are, there’s no better way to inspire curiosity than by visiting a classroom or hosting a tour. Whether you're a grower, processor, researcher, or advocate, sharing your story helps students see how cranberries connect to science, sustainability, and even their snack time.

One small way to make a big impression during these visits is by bringing along a cranberry-themed postcard or career card that students can take home. It’s a tangible reminder of what they learned and a great way to extend the learning beyond the classroom.

Using the Postcards in Your Visit

Classroom Visits

When you visit a school, your time is precious. You’re there to inspire, educate, and maybe pass around a few floating cranberries. These "Did you know?" postcards are the perfect exit ticket.

You can use them to:

  • Spark a conversation (“Did you know cranberries don’t grow in water?”)

  • Reinforce healthy eating habits (“Ask me how cranberries are healthy!”)

  • Add a hands-on component—like stamping the inside of a cranberry

  • Include a QR code to direct students (and their parents) to CranberryLearning.com to learn more

Tip: Pick which card fits best based on the age group you’re visiting. Younger students love bold colors and fun food facts. Older students may respond more to how cranberries tie into science, careers, or conservation.

Hosting a Farm Tour?

Even better! If you’re showing students around a cranberry marsh or hosting a group on your farm, hand these career cards out at the end as a take-home souvenir.

  • The Cranberry Careers post cards highlights the diverse jobs in the industry from science to sales to mechanics.

  • Students can see themselves in these roles and understand that cranberries offer more than just farming, they offer futures.

  • Consider tying in a quick “career chat” and encourage them to ask, “What job might I want to explore in ag?”

  • Three front page designs to choose from.

  • Two back page designs to choose from.

Making It Personal

These cards are a conversation starter and a memory maker. They’re a way for students to share what they’ve learned with their families, and to see themselves in the broader story of where food comes from.

Whether you're in a classroom or standing knee-deep in a bog, you're planting seeds. These postcards may seem small but they’re full of curiosity, connection, and the chance for a young learner to say:

“Today, I learned something berry cool.”

Here’s how you can make your visit even more personal:

  • Tell a short story about how you got into cranberries.

  • Let students hold a fresh berry or see a piece of equipment.

  • Ask them, “What job would YOU want on a cranberry farm?”

  • Leave them with a card that speaks not just to facts, but to future possibilities.

  • Choose a postcard design that reflects your message.

  • Bring a stamp pad and fresh berries if you want to use the cranberry stamp (younger kids LOVE this!).

  • If you're a grower, bring items from your marsh and some cranberry treats.

  • If you're in marketing or science, show a behind-the-scenes photo from your work.

And most importantly, show them your passion. Because passion is contagious, and when kids see how much you care, they care too.
