Cranberry Apple Cider Sangria

We have the perfect, festive, fun drink for fall and winter.  During the holidays kids out number the adults 2 to 1, in our family so we chose to make this Sangria non-alcoholic.  However, if you prefer it with alcohol there are couple easy swaps you can make.

Cranberry Apple Cider Sangria

Here is what you will need for the non-alcoholic:

  • 3 CUPS OF CRANBERRY JUICE

  • 3 CUPS OF APPLE CIDER

  • 3 CUPS OF SPARKLING GRAPE JUICE

  • 3 CINNAMON STICKS

  • 1-2 APPLES

  • 1 CUPS OF FRESH CRANBERRIES

Make sure when you are shopping for cranberry juice you grab a bottle that says 100% juice.  Apple cider is easiest to find in the stores in the fall which is why this Sangria is perfect for fall and winter.  The sparkling grape juice gives this Sangria a little kick of carbonation. Which the kids think is hilarious. (burp)

You’ll want to begin by cutting the apples into pourable pieces. I used green apples to bring in more color! If the pieces are too large, they will not flow out of the pitcher.  Add the apple pieces, cranberries, and cinnamon sticks into the pitcher.  Next, add the cranberry juice, apple cider and sparkling grape juice.  Adjust the amount of fruit and liquids to fit the container you are using. Mix or muddle the contents with a long spoon or muddler.

This recipe will fit nicely in a gallon sized pitcher.  If you have a larger container or punch bowl add more liquid in a similar ratio to the recipe.  The amount of ice and fruit you add will also affect the total volume.

If you prefer to make an alcoholic Sangria, you’ll want to grab a bottle of red wine, ½ cup brandy and a can of seltzer instead of the sparkling grape juice.  Add the alcohol and seltzer in place of the sparkling grape juice in the recipe.
